Abstract
For estimate of maximal working capacity of R. 0. K. A. F. officers and airmen and establish the relationship between maximal oxygen intake and field running time, 48men of 23.13 yrs old (range from 19.5 to 31.4 yrs) were tested treadmill running, 3 minutes duration of 10 km speed and 8 to 12% grade and field running of 2 km distance.
To determine oxygen consumption, analyzed oxygen and carbon dioxide with micro scholander apparatus. And obtained the following results. Mean body weight of them was 61.9¡¾3.26kg(Mean ¡¾S. D.) Lean body mass 51.7¡¾ 2.77kg and % Fat 16.4-¡¾1.52%.
In treadmill running maximal heart rate was 189.2¡¾6.80 beats/min and maximal, minute ventilation (VE) 85.9¡¾8.22 1/min. Maximal Oxygen intake was 3.10¡¾.532 1/min (50.16¡¾9.05 ml/min/kg) and 2krn running time 10.05¡¾1.69 minutes. Maximal heart rate and maximal oxygen intake have highly significant relationship, of r-0.694 (1/min) and r=0.845 (ml/min/kg). 2km running time and maximal oxygen intake have close relationship of r=0.775(l/min) and r=-0.811 (ml/min/kg) and maximal heart rate of r=-0.832. Therefore, 2km running as a test for physical fitness must be very reliable and convenient method.
